After a solid result at Tizzy, I am so happy to anounce that I will part of the 2011 Elite Worlds team travelling to China, Beijing for the Grand Final WCS. I am both honoured and excited to have the opportunity to race in the Green and Gold again, and be sure I will do everything I can to make sure those colours come away with credentials! Special thanks to all my sponsors, in particular SCODY, and WAIS, my coach Grant Landers and the guys in St Raph who helped me train over summer!

So after some solid weeks of training and a couple of good european cup races, I was off to one of my favourite races Tiszjauvaros (Tizzy wizzy) as I like to call it. Where although this race has previously provided one some of my career highs...but also some of my career lows...its fair to say this race is still one of the best around!
In a teeny tiny village in the middle of Hungary and basically nowhere!... lies an oasis of a triathlon facility and a village willing to put as much energy and enthusiasm as is physically possible into one of the coolest tris around. With the girsl coming far and wide from around the country to come cheer on boys in lycra ( or maybe to hang around for their catch at the infamous after party) This town of Tizzy is transformed into a racing masterpiece! Anyhow, having found some good running form, and ironing out a bck injury I had all euro season slowly but surely, and a swim that was slowly progressing back in the right direction..it was fair to say I had one aim for this race. To Win. Feeling good in the lead up though a little sore for some reason the morning of, I knew the day was going to get off to a hard start with 78 girls on the start line! Hard it was with a textbook washing machine swim, that didnt let off until I wasout of the waterI exited further back than I would have liked. However straight onto the bike to work hard saw me and fellow aussie Mcshane catch the girls in fron bar the lead pack, who rode strong the whole way just so we couldnt close the gap. This meant it was going to have to be a fast run if I wanted that podium. However with Tizzys gazillions of corners on the bike, and some slight dislexia on my behalf, saw me positon myself perfectly for transition....on the wrong side! Crap! dropping back put me into a bad postion going into T2, and got me tangled in a transition crash :( This meant I bolted out of T2 like a bat out of hell to catch the fastest runner in the field and who I thought could win the race...she did! unfortunately after my above pace sprint out of transition I was only able to hold on about 6kms before lactate started to show its face....it then came back to show its face after I caught 3rd place. Although running together for about a lap I was unable to drop her and a final surge to try ended up popping me instead! ha and i was done with about 1.5 km to go. Having to settle for th Chocolate medal instead, coming in behind Gwen Jorgenson of USA, Mazetti of ITA and my battle ofr th Great race as per usual with the support of the crowd going wild and the top 20 stage line up as fun as ever. Tizzy you didnt disappoint again, as per usual. |
